Jasper Park Lodge Golf a highlight of Canadian golf - Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club was built by Stanley Thompson in 1924 and it was opened in the summer of 1925. The course, along with Jasper Park Lodge is located on Lac Beauvert in beautiful Jasper Park National Park in Alberta.

Jasper Park is the largest national park in Canada, and is located about 250 miles west of Edmonton.
In the summer of 1924 Thompson used 200 men along with 50 teams of horses to clear the land, and move hundreds of large boulders to build the course. Many of the holes are aligned to provide breathtaking views of surrounding mountain peaks. There are other subtle design features throughout the course too, such as the way the mounding echoes the distant mountain ridges, and the way many bunkers were made to look like local snow formations.

JPL has been praised by golfers and golf architects alike as one of the most unique "must play" courses in the world. In a very informative overview of the course one author says, "Its world ranking of number 36 according to the 1939 article found by Tom MacWood is justified to this day, thanks to its setting which has never been tainted and the superb work of Thompson which has been lovingly preserved and restored."
