Mixed martial arts is a sport which has been seeing an ever expanding fan base over the past decade. The sport really started to take off after a UFC-centered reality TV show which exposed the sport to the public. The UFC is the official MMA league which produces and promotes the matches; all of the professional MMA fighters are in the league, giving the UFC a lock on the sport. Many people worry that the attention paid to MMA comes at the expense of boxing, but the two sports are different enough that there shouldn’t be any cause for alarm – there is no reason to follow one sport and not the other, since MMA is not intended to replace boxing.
However, boxing has been declining in popularity in the US for some time now. Of course, the sweet science is at no risk of extinction – there is a core of loyal fans that will always support the sport. Despite the repeated predictions of boxing’s demise, the sport isn’t going anywhere. However, some long time boxing fans feel that MMA is nothing but a cheap, sensationalized knock off of their favorite sport.
At the same time, many boxing fans have begun to appreciate MMA while still remaining dedicated to boxing as well. There’s plenty for boxing fans to appreciate in mixed martial arts fighting. The sport incorporates elements of boxing, wrestling, judo, kickboxing, Muay Thai and other styles. This blend of styles into a single event makes for a sport which is something all its own.
Boxing fans and MMA fans in fact can find a lot to enjoy in both sports. MMA events don’t feature much in the way of advanced boxing techniques and since these fighters don’t specialize in the discipline, the work of athletes in professional boxing is worlds apart from what you’ll see in a MMA match.
There are more TKOs in MMA matches than in boxing proper, however. This is due to the very small, light gloves used in MMA. Little more than knuckle guards, they don’t cushion the impact of a blow the way that traditional boxing gloves do. This is in line with MMA in general – it’s less focused on skill than on force and raw physicality than is boxing, which is unarguably a more refined sport. Both MMA and boxing have their own appeal to fans due to the differences in approach between the two.
There is no reason why you can’t be a fan of both boxing and MMA. You can appreciate the finer elements of each sport while watching each one for different reasons. While the sports contain similar themes and elements, they are completely different from another. Nobody laments the fact that now that they watch soccer they can’t watch hockey anymore. Both have similarities, but they are viewed rightly as different sports and so the conversation never takes place.
For both boxing and MMA to truly be appreciated, people have to come to the realization that they are separate from one another and that both can be enjoyed for any number of reasons. Of course you don’t have to like both, any fan is free to appreciate whatever sport appeals to them. The point is that there is no reason that you cannot like each sport for what it is.
Traveling is something anyone looks forward to. So how can we make our dream a reality? This article will show you how to get the lowest air fares and still enjoy your holiday.
The Secret Time To Travel
It’s a fact that tourists tend to flock to a place at a certain time of the year. Your destination may be filled with tourists because of good weather and exciting festivals. When times are merry airfares tend to be high. However, don’t give up just yet!
The lowest air fares suddenly sprout during the low season. The best way to go though is to specifically target between the high and low seasons. This will save you tons of money and still offer you a memorable trip. It’s like visiting the Caribbean in the late spring. You get big savings with low fares because U.S. tourists at this time often don’t leave home where the weather is still okay. At the same time, late spring in the Caribbean is still tolerable.
Don’t just settle for the low season. During this time, the Caribbean is shrouded in clouds, Egypt is scorching and the night markets are empty. Get the lowest air fares, but consider the quality of your travel experience.
Know Where You’re Going
Now that we know when to travel, where do we go? Winter can actually offer you the lowest air fares because everyone’s on a shopping frenzy. This means you can make use of this time to visit Asia, where the weather is great almost all year round. When spring comes, visit Holland to see beautiful tulip farms just before the heat rises in Europe and attract the usual tourist flock.
Summer is the time for fun as well as massive crowds of tourists. This means higher fares, but you can still visit destinations that may not be as popular but perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Visiting Costa Rica during the fall is very cheap because tourists tend to come over only later when it’s dry season there. You may visit Costa Rica between the wet and dry seasons with still very low air fares. New Zealand offers low prices during fall as well as breathtaking views of golden-tinted flora. Fall is also time for school so tourists won’t be flocking in.
A very tight budget doesn’t mean you have to postpone your long-awaited trip. You can actually go on vacation now if you simply know what to wear! Whether it’s going to be extremely hot or cold, if you have appropriate clothing you can still make the most out of your holiday during the low seasons.
How Do I Research On The Lowest Air Fares?
Search online not just for major travel companies. Use a travel search engine like FareChaser, travel planning services like TripAdvisor and auction sites. Be more open to other options, but be quick and don’t spend hours on the Internet. If you bump into a great deal, book it before someone else does. Or better yet, start searching early for the lowest air fares.
You may also speak with travel agents. They can inform you of less popular airlines, which are great for discounts. They can also tell you about package deals, which can cut accommodation and car rental costs in half. Furthermore, they can even give you a closer look at your preferred destination with recommendations on reservations and restaurants.
There’s always advice on the lowest air fares around. The best deals are just around the corner. If you dig deep enough, you’ll know just about every secret to traveling on a budget.
