Years ago, garden decor used to consist of putting in some lovely flower gardens then setting up a small umbrella tables and few chairs to sit and relax in. This is far from the case now with most people no matter how small their back yard is. Many people have adopted to the fashion of extending your indoors to outdoors. So now, many living rooms for example flow out onto the patio with the couches, loveseats and most any other furniture you would find in the living room. This has called for more extensive grooming to the general architecture of the backyard itself. There are many things you can do to enhance the atmosphere that you have created here in your backyard.

Making little flower rooms in your garden is a wonder touch. It just means having pathways or walkways leading to various segments of your backyard that are little stand-alone areas. You can create these walkways with cobblestones or bricks. You can even use wood chips or stone. Build your walkway in accordance with the size of your workspace. If it?s small then go with smaller paths.

One of the newer additions to the garden is mirrors. These work extremely well if you have a very small backyard or one that has a lot of shade. You can position the mirror so it reflects sun to the shadowed areas. It also makes your flower gardens look twice as big. Be careful where you situate the mirrors though because they are breakable and you don?t want something hitting them during a storm perhaps.

A pond and or fountain add tranquility to your outdoors. There is nothing more soothing than the sound of water slowly running over some rocks. Then if you have a pond, you can consider having some gold fish in it to enjoy watching. In any event, you must keep the water treated so it doesn?t become stagnant and a breeding ground for mosquitoes. If maintained properly it?s no different than your swimming pool. You must keep the water clean. Once you have decided that a pond or fountain is a good idea you will find many simple plans for installing or building one.

Pergola?s trellis?s and garden gates all add to the d?cor of the yard and are added extras or final changes. They are magnificent when climbing roses are allowed to grow over them. You can once again build these yourself or buy kits that you just need to assemble.

In all likeliness, you are going to have to have a storage shed especially when you have a lot of garden tools. This is one area you do not what to skimp on the cost. You not only want one that is durable but you need one that is going to fit in with the ambience of your outdoor space. I mean, ever heard of a “St. Paul”, which is apparently only available in St. Louis, Missouri, and only then in certain old-timey Chinese restaurants? Its a hunk of egg foo young on white bread with lettuce, tomato, and mayo ” sometimes even a slice of American cheese! Or the chow mein sandwich, which apparently is a common menu item on Route 195 in southern Massachusetts ” and not confined to Chinese restaurants! Others report having peanut butter-and-onion sandwiches, peanut butter-and-pickle sandwiches, or peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches with crushed potato chipsthere is no end to the variety of bizarre sandwiches out there!

Adding to the long sandwich list is the “Avraham Karadi” Sandwich. This sandwich is also called the “Avi Karadi” in some areas. It appears that this sandwich was someone’s idea of a faux gourmet item. I say this because it involves a bit of work in only gathering the ingredients, then ther is preparing them. While I can not imagine enjoying the samdwich after the resulting mix of flavors, I am sure there are those that love it. In fact I have heard some talk about it being pretty popular in certain areas. Anyway here is the list of ingredients, so you can judge for yourself:

Passum, a sweet wine sauce from ancient Roman times. This is produced by boiling the must (whole fruits including the seeds, stems, and leaves pressed) and then adding honey in order to thicken it up.

Garum, an old Roman fish sauce (salty), approximated today by mixing in fish paste, passum (as discussed above) and oregano.

Pine nut sauce, an old Roman stand by, this is made by combining pine nuts, vinegar, honey and some lovage and some pepper.

To finish it off add spinach, onions, lettuce and tomatoes as desired. Rye bread would be the usual choice, but black Russian bread comes in at a distant second. As found in egg salad “Egg Paste” is sometimes also added. Now the meat, Roast Beef or Pastrami are some of the favored meats to use. Of course as will all recipes there are some variations, but they all appear to stick to these main ingredients. Oddly, I was unable to find where the sandwiches nickname “Avraham Karadi” or “Avi Karadi” had come from.

Step One: Making the Passum: Reduce a quart of grape juice to one tenth its starting volume. You can add honey for taste.

Step Two: Making the Garum: Take the Passum and add two tablespoons of fish paste and a pinch of oregano.

3. The Pine Nut Sauce: For three hours, in vinegar, soak the pine nuts. Now mix with honey, while adding dashes of pepper and lovage.

Step Four: Building the sandwich. Spread egg paste on your rye bread (or your black Russian bread if that was your choice). Now add on the meat (Pastrami or Roast Beef) and add vegetables. Pour on the Passum, Garum, and Pine Nut Sauce as desired.

All done, enjoy your “Avraham Karadi” (aka “Avi Karadi”) sandwich!

Kobe Bean Bryant, named after the Japanese beef, is the shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. This American All-Star, along with Shaquille O’Neal led the team to three consecutive NBA Championships form 2000 to 2002, making both of them household names.

With the departure of O’Neal in 2003, Bryant became the team’s star player, leading the league in scoring in the 2005-2006 and 206-2007 seasons. He is an 11 time NBA All-Star, 2008’s NBA MVP and 3 time NBA Champion, along with having won a gold medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics as part of the US Olympic Men’s Basketball team.

Bryant has spent his entire life around the sport; his father was a player for the Philadelphia 76′ers and also coached the Los Angeles Sparks while Kobe was a child. Basketball almost lost Bryant to soccer when the Bryant family moved to Italy and he took an interest in soccer.

When they moved back to the States in 1991, he gained recognition during his high school years with his basketball career. He earned a SAT score of 1080, but decided to go directly into the NBA at the age of 17, having his parent co-sign his contract with the Lakers since he could not sign on his own until he turned 18. He became the youngest player to play and start in an NBA game.

He earned a place on the NBA Rookie all second team in his first season as a Laker and won the 1997 Slam Dunk competition. He was recognized as one of the best guards in the league by 1998, when he began to garner comparisons to Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan.

Kobe Bryant averaged 30 points per game and posted 40 or more points in nine consecutive games during the 2002-03 season. He was voted to the All0NBA and All Defensive 1st teams for the first time in his career. Before the next season would start, Kobe Bryant went through arrest for sexual assault and his reputation was badly damaged.

In the 2003-2004 season, Bryant was criticized by many, including his coach who complained in writing that he was becoming uncoachable. He suffered another hit to his reputation with the Lakers first failure to make it to the NBA playoffs in more than ten years.

Bryant underperformed in the next two seasons until breaking a franchise record of 81 points (!) in a single game and achieving the second highest career point total in NBA history. In the 2006-2007 season, his jersey became the top selling jersey in both the US and in China. In December 2007 when he was only 29, he became the youngest NBA player to score 20,000 points in his career.

The 2008 Olympics made Bryant an international star. It may have been his first game as an Olympic athlete, but he was already far from a rookie when he won his first gold medal. He has set and broken many records in his career and despite his ups and downs, he may yet achieve more in the game.

a) Alcohol and tools just don?t make a good team. Avoid the consumption of alcohol whenever you are going to be working with your tools no matter how minor they are. e) It is imperative that you keep your shop clean. If you leave tools, lying on the floor there is a good chance you are going to trip. If you are, hanging tools make sure they are secure and you don?t run the risk of them falling on you. Watch for cords try to keep them away from areas where you are going to be walking. Sweep up your debris. Sawdust can make a floor like a skating rink.

f) There will be times that your won?t seem like it is cutting right or it is resisting. Don?t get frustrated and start pushing the wood. Stop and inspect the equipment to see what the problem is. If you continue to force the wood, it could spring back and hit you.

g) Think about what you are cutting. Don?t let your thoughts stray you must concentrate at all times.

h) If you are in a hurry then you should not be working. This is when accidents are most likely to happen.

I) Wear the right clothing. If you have long hair keep it tied back. Remove your jewelry before working with your tools.

j) Make sure your power tools have completely stopped before touching them or setting them down.

Just good common sense thinking can prevent the majority of accidents that can occur in the workshop.

It is fun to be single. Why? It’s because single people are free, they have no responsibilities and are not motivated to work hard and sweat up for labor because of a mouth to feed and a family to raise. Every Sunday the entire single ladies and gentlemen at Grand Rapids, Michigan find time to have fun and socialize, to celebrate great friends and awesome merrymaking.

As a married woman and a mother of a beautiful 7 month old princess, I used to think that being single is a much better lifestyle. What is then a much better lifestyle? Being single or being married with responsibilities? I used to stay up so late at night and be outdoors until the wee hours of the morning. I used to break on my curfews and stay with my boyfriend for a weekend getaway out of town. Being single is care-free life, I buy the things that I want and shamelessly max out on my credit card.

“The Life” came to an end when Maiah came into my life. Although I earn a lot more compared to what I used to before, all my money goes to buying for her milk and other necessities. Times became more valuable and golden as I frantically clear out and manage my daily tasks just so I could hold her more and play with her. No more long nights partying at techno-sounding bars and no more crazy AmEX sword fighting over late dinners with my girlfriends. Lingerie and Beauty Section of malls no longer excites me as I often find myself trooping to Infant toys in my sweats sans makeup.

I do enjoy married life. Nights are spent to the company of the 2 most important persons in my life. My Don and my Maiah.

Babe Ruth is a player who needs little if any introduction. Ruth once said “Whenever I hit a home run, I always make sure that I touch all four bases”. Larger than life both in terms of his performance on the diamond as well as in his private life, Babe Ruth is still very much a part of the American psyche. George Herman Ruth Jr. was born in 1895 in Baltimore, MD, the son of George H. Ruth Sr. and Kate Schamberger-Ruth. One of two surviving children of eight (the other was his sister Mamie), Babe Ruth has a tough childhood, often being left to care for himself. At the tender age of seven, he was sent to the St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boys, which he recalls more as a reformatory than a school. Deprived of parental guidance except on occasions, Ruth quickly earned a reputation among the nuns at the school as an incorrigible.

The Babe never like rules, especially regimented rules and was not good at adapting to what was correct-he had his own way, a uniqueness that would follow him to baseball. Perhaps the biggest thing Ruth learned to love at St. Mary’s would be his fondness for children; as an adult, he was charitably involved with them as much as he could be. George Jr. shined with talent at a young age and played numerous positions at St. Mary’s, often, however, he excelled in catching and pitching. When Babe reached nineteen, Jack Dunn, the manager and owner of the then Baltimore Orioles which was a Boston Red Sox minor league team, was awed at Babe’s talent and signed him right away. Once Jack signed him, he was dubbed by his teammates as “Jack’s newest babe.” From then on, he would be forever known as simply “Babe.”

It was not long before Ruth’s contract was purchased by the Boston Red Sox, where he would spend the next six years both as a catcher and in the outfield. Ruth became immensely popular with fans for his flair on and off the diamond. With the Red Sox, Ruth played his first World Series in 1916. Ruth pitched a still intact record of 14 innings. In fact, Ruth achieved a record setting 29 2/3 innings with no hits as a pitcher in World Series games alone! This record would last for 43 years. In 1919, an ill-advised trade saw Babe Ruth traded to the New York Yankees (ill-advised for the Red Sox anyway, a triumph for the Yankees). This began the “Curse of the Bambino”; the Red Sox would not win another World Series until 2004!

With Ruth on the team, the Yankees would win 4 World Series and 7 American League Pennants. Ruth hit an amazing 54 home runs in 1920 alone. Babe Ruth proved to be just as popular with the fans in New York as he had been in Boston and became a celebrity. The Yankees stadium, built in 1923 soon came to be known as “The House That Ruth Built”. Fittingly enough, Ruth hit three home runs on opening day and later that year, the World Series title. Ruth would separate from his wife of 11 years, Helen Woodford in 1925, with whom he had adopted a daughter, Dorothy. It was not until Helen dies in 1929 that he would marry his companion, the model Claire Hodgson. His first at bat that year, he hit a home run out of the park, which he dedicated to Hodgson.

Throughout his 22-year career in baseball, Babe will forever be remembered for his 60 home runs in 1927, a record that stood until Roger Maris hit 61 home runs in 1961. Sports fans everywhere argue to this day who actually holds this record since Babe hit his 60 in 154 games and Maris hit his in 162 games. No one, however, can deny The Babe’s impressive .690 lifetime batting percentage-something that may never be seen again. Along with The Babe, sports writers gave him nicknames like The Great Bambino and The Sultan of Swat.

Babe’s famous moment in baseball came in Game 3 of the 1932 World Series where the Yankees played the Chicago Cubs. In the 5th inning, after he already had one home run, Babe came to bat and was at a count of two balls and two strikes. Before the next pitch came his way, Babe pointed to the center of the field bleachers and slammed that puppy right where he pointed and some believe it is the longest home run ever hit out of Wrigley Field.

When Babe did not get his desired Yankee manager position in 1935, he left the Yankees and signed with the Brave’s as not only a player but also their first base coach accepting the promise of their manager position the following year. With his manager outlook grim, Babe hit three home runs in one of his final games against the Pittsburgh Pirates, where only a meager 10,000 fans saw him tip his hat at that last home run-his 714th. Still, with Babe’s 8,399 at-bats, 2,211 RBI’s and a career 2.28 ERA as a lefty pitcher, The Babe remains a true hero in the hearts and fans of baseball everywhere.

Free items do not need to be very expensive, very large, or very big. At the most, the freebie should be part of your products. For example, if you are into the wood works industry, perhaps a small statuette, or maybe a paperweight would be a suitable freebie for your booth.

Don’t forget that you also need to have your name (or your company’s name) in the product’s face. At least, when they look back, they would know the company (or the person) that gave them that particular freebie. Perhaps try and recruit a friend as well through that form of advertisement.

Food industry freebies often come by with using samplers. These are small tidbits of food, usually served cocktail style and laid out in trays for the masses to take one and eat. You would be more familiar with samplers if you visit your local grocery more often and notice the free food on toothpicks that they serve. It’s certainly a crowd drawer, right?

Make sure to have your name out in catchy and bright colors, to attract attention (unless the over all theme of your booth is supposed to be dark, then go otherwise). And make sure to give your best when it comes to freebies. Those items will be like your business card, your first impression as well. If your first impression doesn’t give a good flavor to the audience, the freebies worth becomes nil.
